Speaking in Parliament, Among highlighted the increasing frequency of extreme weather conditions, including prolonged droughts and unpredictable rainfall patterns. She stressed that Uganda is already witnessing the devastating effects of climate change, affecting agriculture, water sources, and overall livelihoods.
Experts attribute the current scorching temperatures to global climate change, exacerbated by deforestation and environmental degradation. Farmers have reported massive crop failures, and water shortages are becoming more severe, threatening food security and economic stability.
Environmental activists are calling on the government to strengthen policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, promoting reforestation, and investing in sustainable energy sources.
